Moses marks return to Chelsea starting XI with stellar performance

Victor Moses returned to the starting lineup and bagged an assist for Chelsea as they came from behind to defeat Newcastle 3-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The visitors had a strong start to the game and were rewarded in the 12th minute as Dwight Gayle put them 1-0 up, before Eden Hazard fired the Blues level with an angled strike less than 10 minutes later.

Moses, who was making his first start since October, drove in a cross in the 33rd minute to find the head of Alvaro Morata, who made it 2-1 for Chelsea.

The Super Eagles forward also had a hand in Chelsea’s third goal as he was fouled by Matt Ritchie in the area to earn a penalty well-taken by Hazard in the 74th minute.

Moses could have added a goal to the scoreline in the 85th minute, but saw his goal bound effort blocked after Marcos Alonso’s initial shot was saved.

The victory means the Premier League champions sit in third position on 32 points, eight points behind leaders Manchester City who will host West Ham on Sunday
