Police nabs 20-yr-old housewife for poisoning 8-month old step daughter with rat poison

The long arm of the law has caught up with a middle aged woman and her 17-year-old daughter after they were both arrested for stealing and selling a four-year-old minor for the sum of N250,000.

According to the Police, the suspects identified as Ngozi Ede and her daughter, Kosiso, both connived to steal the victim (a girl) identified as Mmesoma Ikoko from the custody of her mother, Mrs. Nneka Ikoko.

Confirming the incident, Mr. Haruna Mohammed, the Anambra state Police Public Relations Officer said the crime was committed by the pair at Awada, Obosi, in Idemili North local government area of the state.

The state PPRO added that the abducted child has been recovered and handed over to her mother after the suspects were arrested by police detectives attached to Awada Division at their residence located at No 4 Ukaegbu junction, Awada.

Mr Mohammed said the sum of N250, 000 suspected to be part of the proceeds of the illicit transaction was recovered from the suspects who according to the PPRO would soon be charged to court after the completion of investigations into the matter.
