Motor park boy crushed by truck while fighting friend over debt
Tragedy struck at Berger bus stop along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway when a motor park boy was crushed by an on-coming truck while he was fighting with his friend over debt owed him.
Reports say the deceased identified as Agba Akin on sighting his debtor- a commercial bus driver known simply as Jimoh who had slowed down to pick passengers at the bus stop pounced on his friend at the drivers side insisting that the money owed be paid on the spot.
But his friend who seemingly was not ready to pay his debt sped off in an attempt to evade payment and in the process, Agba lost his balance and fell into the path of an oncoming truck which crushed his head.
According to one of the friends of the deceased identified as Sedo, Agba Akin (whose body has been deposited at a morgue) had been pestering Jimoh to pay the debt he owes but his friend had refused to pay.
“Around 2.30pm today (Wednesday), he saw Jimoh with some money and struggled to collect it from him. Jimoh zoomed off, but he tried to pursue him. Agba Akin lost balance and the truck knocked him down. It crushed his head and he died on the spot.”
An eyewitness said people were scared to approach Agba Akin’s corpse after unfortunate accident.
“The truck driver did not wait. Everybody was scared to move near the corpse because it was very gory. It was a policeman and some of the deceased’s friends that removed his body and took it to the mortuary,” the added eyewitness added.
Reports say the police are on the trail of the fleeing truck driver and the friend of the deceased as the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, SP Dolapo Badmos, who could not comment on the incident when reached promised to offer details soon.
