About five persons have been confirmed dead and many injured after multiple explosions suspected to have emanated from the Boko Haram insurgents rocked Maiduguri, the Borno State capital ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to the state.

The bombs believed to have been fired from outside the town began to land on different locations around Maiduguri International Airport at about 10:45 am, just a few hours before the president’s arrival.

However, despite the incident, Buhari arrived in Maiduguri, where he was to commission various projects.

The President, who then carried on with his schedule as planned began with the commissioning of an edifice donated by Mohammed Indimi to the University of Maiduguri.
