Murder of union leader forces Ambode to suspend unions, ‘Agbero’ activities in Oshodi

The murder of popular union leader Rasaq Bello popularly known as Hamburger has forced the Lagos State Government to suspended transport unionism in and around the Oshodi, area in the state.

That much information was made known at a press briefing on Monday by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Anofiu Elegushi, and the decision according to reports will affect all the seven branches of the National Union of Road Transport Workers operating in Oshodi area.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Transport also revealed that while the order persists, there will be no issuance of tickets or collection of money from commercial vehicles operating in the area, an action usually carried out by collectors referred to as agberos.

The murder of Hamburger, the Chairman of Motorcycle Operators’ Association of Lagos State, Oshodi chapter witnessed a gang war in Oshodi which claimed three lives after the NURTW boss was shot dead during APC primaries.
