Murray confident of beating Del Potro in 3rd-round blockbuster

World number one Tennis star Sir Andy Murray has expressed confidence in advancing to the next round of the ongoing French Open tournament by beating Juan Martin del Potro in the third round.

Murray set up the clash that is set to be an incredibly tough tie so early in the tournament after bruising Slovakia’s Martin Klizan 6-7 (3/7), 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (7/3) on Thursday.

The last year’s runner-up Murray is aware how tricky a match it will prove to be when he faces 29th seed Del Potro, both of whom played out two epics in 2016, securing one win apiece.

But despite naming the Argentine as one of the world’s top players, Murray believes he has all the tools to progress when they meet on Saturday.

When asked whether he can beat Del Potro, he replied: ”Absolutely.

”In my opinion he’s one of the best players in the world when fit and healthy.

”He’s had a lot of tough draws. He’s lost to Djokovic a few times and Raonic in Delray Beach. In Miami I think he lost to Roger [Federer].

”With the ranking he has he’s met a lot of the top guys early on. I’m capable of winning that match. I’m playing way better than two weeks ago.

”I hit a lot of balls today and it seems like people don’t think I didn’t play particularly well today but I did well against a tough opponent.”
