“I’m very happy and thankful for everything. I’m here in New York practising hard and preparing well for the tournament.”

The 31-year old has enjoyed a fine season, reaching the final of the Australian Open, where he lost to Roger Federer, before winning his 10th title at Roland Garros – the French Open.

He returned to the summit of the ATP rankings for the first time since 2014, as Murray’s injury has kept him away from recent competitions.

The US Open, which is the final Grand Slam of the year, will begin on August 28.
