The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has announced that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) logged nearly 20,000 flight hours in 2024, highlighting the force’s efforts in counter-insurgency and other security operations across the country.

In his Christmas goodwill message to officers and airmen, Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized the significance of this milestone as a testament to NAF’s dedication to safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty and combating insurgency, banditry, and other anti-economic crimes.

“The 20,000 flight hours demonstrate our resolute commitment to securing the nation’s interests,” he stated.

Reflecting on the operational successes achieved in various theaters, the CAS expressed gratitude to NAF personnel for their courage and resilience.

“To my gallant officers and airmen, as we draw the curtain on another eventful year, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to every member of the NAF family. Your commitment and professionalism have been instrumental in ensuring the security and stability of our beloved country,” he said.

The CAS also highlighted progress made in enhancing aircraft serviceability and intensifying personnel training, which he noted were vital steps toward greater self-reliance and reducing dependence on external support.

“We have focused on building expertise from within, strengthening the force, and ensuring readiness for future challenges,” he added.

Air Marshal Abubakar underscored the importance of collaboration with other security agencies, emphasizing that modern warfare requires unified efforts.

“Let us strengthen our partnerships with sister services and other security agencies, working together to build a safer and more secure Nigeria. With renewed vigour, unwavering resolve, and belief in our mission, there is no obstacle we cannot overcome,” he urged.

Expressing optimism for the future, the CAS assured that the Nigerian Air Force is on a steady path to becoming more resilient and capable in addressing emerging security challenges.

“On behalf of the Nigerian Air Force leadership and my family, I extend my best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a peaceful, prosperous new year,” Air Marshal Abubakar concluded.
