Naira sustains positive momentum in 2025, gains N4 at official window

The Nigerian currency, the naira, sustained the positive momentum of 2025 on Friday, January 3, 2025, by appreciating against the dollar at the official window.

FMDQ data showed that the naira strengthened to N1534.05/$1 on Friday, January 3, 2025, from N1,538.23, gaining N4.18 against the dollar.

In the black market, the naira closed flat against the dollar at N1,665/$1 same as the previous rate of N1,665/$1.

However, the naira gained N10 against the British Pound to trade at N2,150/£1 as against the previous day’s rate of N2,160\£1.

The naira continues to hold steady against the Canadian Dollar at N1,280/CA$1.

The naira also gained N10 against the Euro to trade at ₦1,730/€1 as against the previous day’s rate of ₦1,740/€1.
