NASA astronaut breaks record for number of days spent in space
Jeff Williams, American NASA astronaut has set a new record for the most time spent in space after her returned to earth safely from a 172-day mission with two crewmates aboard the International Space Station.
Williams and his fellow astronauts, Alexey Ovchinin and Oleg Skripochka of the Russian space agency Roscosmos, landed in Kazakhstan yesterday evening. Williams has now completed four missions and passed 534 days in space, breaking Scott Kelly’s record of 520 days.
 
During his most recent sojourn away from Earth, Williams became the first person to board an inflatable habitat on the ISS. He also helped install a new high-definition camera and an international docking adaptor, which future commercial spacecraft will use to park at the space station.
