NASARAWA: Gov Sule summons emergency security meeting after deputy attacked

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has summoned an emergency meeting after the attack on the convoy of his Deputy, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, by alleged robbers.

The summoning of the emergency meeting was made known in a statement issued by Yakubu Lamai, Director General (Press) to the Governor.

Lamai said on Wednesday that Governor Sule was committed to improving security in Nasarawa State.

He also assured on behalf of the governor that the government was determined to quash all security challenges in the state.

Akabe was on his way to Abuja on an official engagement when his convoy ran into the robbers who opened fire, killing three policemen and a civilian in the process.

The incident was confirmed by ASP Usman Samai, Police Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Police Command.

Reports say the incident, which happened at 6pm on Tuesday, left the deputy governor who was unhurt shaky. He was taken to the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia.

The corpses of the three policemen and a driver who were shot and killed by the armed robbers were deposited at the same hospital.
