The Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has ordered the closure of the state’s House of Assembly following the death of a member of the House from COVID-19.

Sule, who disclosed this at a media briefing in Lafia Sunday, said the closure would enable the state government to trace all the contacts of the dead lawmaker.

He said: “The Speaker and all members of the Assembly have agreed to be isolated and their samples have been taken for COVID-19 test.”

The lawmaker, who was the first COVID-19 casualty in the state, died in Keffi Thursday.

According to him, the victim took ill and was admitted at the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, where his sample was collected after showing symptoms of COVID-19.

Sule added: “Before the result could return, the member had died and his remains buried according to Islamic rights in Nasarawa local government area.
