The Nasarawa State has recorded its first confirmed case of the deadly COVID-19 disease which has fast spread across the country.

This was confirmed on Tuesday by the state’s Director of Public Health, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu, who said that the test result of one of the persons in isolation returned positive.

The confirmation comes after Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), late on Monday, announced 64 new cases of COVID-19 in the country to take the total number to 1337.

Recall that the state government days ago released about 115 inmates from the six correctional centres in the state as a way of further curbing the spread of the dreaded COVID-19 disease pandemic in the state.

The release of the inmates is coming on the heels of a directive by President Muhammadu Buhari to decongest prisons to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
