Nasarawa penalized for assaulting match officials, fined N3m
Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club Nasarawa United have been penalized for breaching rules during their Matchday 18 clash against Rivers United in December.
The league organisers found the club guilty of pitch invasion, failure to control their supporters, and inadequate security measures, which led to the assault on Rivers United players and centre referee Musibaudeen Ibrahim.
As a result, Nasarawa United have been fined N3 million — N1 million each for pitch encroachment, misconduct by their team and supporters, and failure to provide adequate security.

Additionally, the club will face a three-point and three-goal deduction for the referee’s assault.
The NPFL also ordered the club to identify and prosecute those responsible for the violence and report progress within seven days.
Furthermore, the Lafia City Stadium will remain closed to fans until security measures are improved, including barricading the state box, with compliance reports submitted to the NPFL security department.
