Murder suspect arrested after five months on the run

81 suspects arrested for their alleged involvement in kidnapping, cultism and armed robbery have been arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command.

The suspects were paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Bola Longe on Tuesday at the command’s headquarters in Latin, the Nasarawa State capital.

According to Longe, the suspects were arrested by a combined team of policemen and members of sister security organisations working under the auspices of the state branch of the Operation Puff Adder.

He said: “In the past eight days, we have arrested 82 suspected criminal elements. Sixty-two suspected kidnappers were arrested in Mararaba Udege area of the Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state noted for kidnapping activities.

“Twenty-three suspected kidnappers were arrested on two occasions based on actionable intelligence, and thereafter in Toto LGA of the state, 39 suspected kidnappers were arrested based on intelligence.”

The police commissioner further revealed that a 25-year-old lady, Mrs Naja’atu Mohammed, a food vendor, was also arrested for serving as the caterer to the suspected kidnappers.

Continuing, Longe disclosed that 19 suspected cultists and gangsters were also apprehended around the Karu Local Government Area of the state on April 27, 2019.
