NASARAWA: Unknown gunmen kill 3, raze 13 houses in fresh attack on 2 villages

Scores killed as armed bandits raid Zamfara communities

A fresh attack on Azara and Kadarko areas of Keana Local Government of the state by unknown gunmen has left no less than three victims dead.

Reports say the attack by the gunmen which witnessed the wounding of scores of Tiv farmers also saw the razing of 13 houses by the assailants who stormed the villages with sophisticated weapons.

The incident was confirmed by President, Tiv Youth Organization in Nasarawa State, Benjamin Ngitamen who informed that a peace meeting earlier held between the Fulani herders and Tiv farmers did not yield any meaningful result.

“We are appealing to the state government to deploy military personnel, the police and other security operatives in the state to enable our people to go their farms. Rainy season has commenced and farming activities have also started.”

“Some of the Internally Displaced Persons at the various camps in the affected communities could no longer bear the frustration in the camp as their farmland had been hijacked by the Fulani herders in the state,” he lamented.

The attack was confirmed by DSP Idirisu Kennedy, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state who however said only one person was killed during the attack.

The PPRO said, “Only one casualty was recorded during the Thursday and Friday attack on Tiv communities.”
