Senators move impeachment plot to hotel

The two chambers of the National Assembly have scheduled February 26th as the day for their resumption of plenary.

This is coming on the heels of the postponement of the commencement of the 2019 general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from February 16th to February 23rd for the presidential and National Assembly elections and March 9th from March 2nd for the governorship, states Houses of Assembly and FCT Area Council elections.

The federal lawmakers were initially scheduled to resume plenary on February 19 before INEC postponed the elections.

A statement by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Alhaji Mohammed Sani-Omolori, on Sunday, explained that the shift in the resumption date was due to the postponement of the Presidential/National Assembly elections.

The statement read in part: “This is to inform all distinguished senators and honourable members that resumption of plenary session earlier scheduled for Tuesday 19th February 2019 has been postponed to Tuesday 26th February 2019 due to the postponement of the national elections.

“All distinguished senators and honourable members are expected to resume plenary session by 10 am on the 26th February 2019, please.”
