National Assembly to receive new version of PIB next week – Saraki

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has indicated that a new version of the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, is set to be re-presented in the National Assembly, next week.

Saraki stated this while declaring open the ongoing National Assembly Business Environment Roundtable.

According to him, the current 8th National Assembly, after consideration of the harmonized version of the bill, has
scheduled the new version to be laid in both chambers.

He also disclosed that the Senate and the House of Representatives had resolved to do a joint work on the Bill.

It would be recalled that the PIB had suffered several setbacks for years after it was first presented to the National Assembly.

The current development was however hinted on by the current Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachukwu during his ministerial screening, when he told the Senate that a new version of the Bill would be would worked upon and sent the National Assembly for passage.
