Naval authorities in Warri, Delta State on Saturday said it has arrested two men alleged to have attacked oil installations belonging to Chevron in the state.

The two men are suspected to be members of the Niger Delta Avengers who have been causing havoc on oil installations in the oil rich region.

Their arrest was made known by Commander of the Naval Base, Commodore Joseph Dzunve. He told newsmen that the alleged criminals were apprehended in Sapele area of the state following a tip-off.

The accused according to him, attacked oil facilities located in Warri North Local Government Area, between May 2016 and July 2016, adding that the duo are providing the authorities with useful information which could help in arresting other members of the group who are at large.

”Today, I am pleased to inform you that after persistent efforts, the NNS DELTA, being part of the maritime component of the Operation Delta Safe, has arrested two suspects responsible for the attack on Chevron facilities. They were deeply involved in various forms of crimes, including pipeline vandalism and sea robberies along the waterways in Warri North.
