Navy hands over vessel with illegal diesel to EFCC

EFCC to arraign women for receiving N22.9bn from Dasuki

The Nigerian Navy, on Monday handed over a vessel, MV Mama Elizabeth 1 ans its crew, including the captain to the Economic amd Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for investigation and prosecution.

The vessel was arrested with 100, 000 littres of illegal diesel in Excravos, Warri South West Local government Area, Delta State.

The handing over was performed by the Executive Officer of the Nigerian Navy Shipyard, NNS Delta, Captain Adeyemi Adewusi, who disclosed that the vessel was arrested with 8 crew members on March 15.

“MV Mama Elizabeth I, was arrested for conveying product without approval. This morning, we have been directed to handover the vessel and the crew members, including the Captain to the EFCC for prosecution,” Adewusi said.

Adewusi also called on people behind crime in the maritime sector to desist, warning that the Navy will not relent in its war against oil theft and related crimes.

Responding, the Principal Detective Superintendent, Benin Zonal office of EFCC, Mr Richard Ogberaga said the anti-graft agency will investigate, look at the source and prosecute.
