After suffering loss in the opener, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Toronto Raptors 109-104 to level the best-of-seven NBA Finals series at 1-1.

Warriors were beaten in the first game 118-109, with Stephen Curry’s 34 points not enough to hand a win to the champions, who are aiming for third title in a row.

On Monday, they trailed by five at half-time, but reeled off 18 unanswered points at the beginning of the third quarter to take the lead.

Toronto Raptors got back within two points in the fourth, but with seven seconds remaining in the game, Andre Iguodala scored a three-pointer to seal the win for the visitors.

Klay Thompson top scored for the Warriors with 25 points, but went off with a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter to add to his team’s injury worries – with Kevin Durrant missing a seventh consecutive game.

Stephen Curry added 23 points, while Raptors forward Kawhi Leonard scored a game-high 34 points.

The Raptors are playing in the finals for the first time in their history while their opponents are gunning for a third consecutive title.

The game three of the series will take place in Oakland on Thursday, after the opening two were in Toronto.
