NCAA slams $1.5m fine on Arik Air

For failure to return passengers’ luggage from its London flights, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Agency (NCAA) has slammed a total fine of $1.5 million on Arik Airlines.

The fine, which is part of the conditions handed down to the airline, is to be followed by immediate returning of the luggage, now on their one week stay in London.

According to the spokesman of the agency, the fine is to serve as compensation for the inconvenience, which each passenger must have suffered.

Though Arik management had said it was arranging for a bigger aircraft to lift the luggage, most of the hapless passengers said they had lost their valuables over the delay in giving them back their luggage.

But NCAA, gave the airline a deadline of Friday to comply with this directive.
