Ndidi Wins Young Player Of The Year Award at Leicester

At the Leicester City 2016-17 Awards on Monday night, Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi won the Young Player of the Year award.

The 20-year old joined the club last January from Belgian side Genk, and he beat Ben Chiwell and Demarai Gray to the award.

Ndidi has scored two English Premier League in 15 appearances, and his goal against Stoke City was also nominated for the goal of the season award.

The midfielder told Leicester City TV shortly after the award that he feels very happy and delighted to be a recipient on the night.

“Its so great to be rated alongside Demarai Gray and Chiwell,” said Ndidi.

“I believe if they had enough chances to play probably they would have won the award.”

The Players’ Player of the Season award was given to goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, while Danny Drinkwater got the Goal of the Season award for his strike against Liverpool.

Leicester are currently 11th on the English Premier League table on 43 points, and they will play second-placed Tottenham on May 18, before facing Bournemouth in their last game of the season.
