NDLEA makes largest single burst ever, nabs 3 with drugs worth N4bn

Three suspects identified as Unegbu Daniel Chukwu, 42; Ettah Joseph, 28; and Wopara Bright, 31 have been arrested by men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for being in possession of drugs worth N4 billion.

Reports say NDLEA intercepted 83.390 kilogrammes of Ephedrine, (a banned substance) at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos with reports suggesting that the haul is the largest quantity ever seized.

The seized ephedrine has a street value of N4 billion, a statement by the NDLEA spokesman, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju informed, adding that the seized substance was concealed in artificial female hair by a suspected drug trafficking syndicate and was headed to South Africa.

The NDLEA also informs that two bags, with one containing heroin heading to the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, and another bearing cannabis, being exported to London, were abandoned at the same airport by traffickers.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Colonel Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah (retd.), three suspects, including luggage handlers and a clearing agent, are currently being interrogated in connection with the crime after the drug was intercepted at the departure hall during outward screening of a South African Airways flight to Johannesburg.

“Anti-narcotic agents have been placed on the alert and will remain vigilant in detecting any act of sabotage. The case is under investigation and anyone found wanting shall be prosecuted in line with the NDLEA Act,” he said.

This is what President Buhari’s administration has forced people to do. Watch out for more illegal businesses, the more the economy frustrates people.

These people are even young, it is only greed that will lead anyone into drug deals. There mates are busy thinking of better means of livelihood, not drugs

Are you implying our NDLEA officials are corrupt? Sincerely they have been up and doing to me. To the extent NDLEA officials don’t spare celebrities whenever they are caught with drugs. They deserve kudos not condemnation.

I think drug pushers should be sentenced to death without delay. Let’s emulate Singaporean government . most youths have now seen drug pushing business as their major way of survival.
