New constitution amendments trapped at N’Assembly

Works on the proposed amendments to the 1999 Constitution may be delayed further as the 36 state Houses of Assembly have yet to receive the amendments passed by the National Assembly for inclusion in the 1999 Constitution.

Findings by The PUNCH on Thursday showed that 37 days after the Senate and the House of Representatives passed 33 amendments for inclusion in the constitution, the new document remained trapped in the National Assembly.

A senior National Assembly official said, “Nothing has been transmitted to the state assemblies.
