New Russia sanctions agreed by US govt

A bill to slap new sanctions on Russia has been overwhelmingly agreed to be passed into law by the U.S. House of Representatives.

Also, in a rare rebuke, President Donald Trump will be forced to obtain lawmakers’ permission before easing any sanctions on Moscow and it is coming as lawmakers investigate possible meddling by Russia in the 2016 presidential election and potential collusion by Republican Trump’s campaign.

However, the bill still must be passed by the Senate, which is mired in debate over efforts to overhaul the U.S. healthcare system as lawmakers try to clear the decks to leave Washington for their summer recess.

Russia has been condemned by the US for its alleged hacks aimed at swaying the Nov. 8 election for Trump.

Recall a month ago that former FBI director James Comey testified before the American Senate where he claimed that Trump tried to undermine his efforts into Russia hacking of the last US elections.
