NEW ZEALAND: Gunmen kill many during attacks on mosques

Gunmen on Friday, stormed two mosques and began shooting in New Zealand’s city of Christchurch killing many people.

Police Commissioner Mike Bush said four suspects were in custody – three men and a woman.

It was gathered that a gunman dressed in black with a helmet carrying a machine gun came into the back of the mosque and started firing into the people praying there.

Police confirmed a second shooting that occurred at the Linwood mosque during Friday prayers in the South Island city but details are yet to be revealed.

During a news conference on Friday, New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said:

“We’re dealing with an evolving situation across multiple sites. This is, and will be, one of New Zealand’s darkest days.”

However, authorities have urged people in central Christchurch to stay at home while investigations are in progress.
