Why Neymar may miss Champions League clash against Madrid

World’s most expensive footballer, Neymar is likely to miss his club’s UEFA Champions League second-leg clash with Real Madrid after picking up an injury while at work last weekend.

The 26-year old, who joined PSG for a world record £200m fee from Barcelona last August, was injured during Sunday’s 3-0 win over Marseille in Ligue 1.

He has been diagnosed with a fractured metatarsal and a sprained ankle, according to a statement by the club, which did not indicate how long Neymar would be out.

“Tests confirm that @neymarjr sprained his right ankle and cracked his fifth metatarsal during Sunday’s match vs. Marseille,” PSG wrote on its Twitter handle on Tuesday.

The Brazil international has scored 29 goals in 30 games since his arrival at the French capital.

Trailing 3-1 from the first leg against Real, PSG would need to score at least three unreplied goals in order to advance to the quarter finals of this season’s Champions League.

Both sides will meet at Parc des Princes on Tuesday, March 6.
