Leave me alone, Enyeama warns Oliseh

In from Ripples Nigeria

As part of efforts in making sure Nigeria qualify for the 2017 Nations Cup, the Nigeria Football Federation are making frantic moves to persuade the duo of Vincent Enyeama and Emmanuel Emenike to come out of retirement and help the team out of the precarious situation.

The duo were forced into early retirement following altercation with erstwhile coach, Sunday Oliseh, but some NFF topshots believe they can still contribute positively to the team.

Enyeama was Super Eagles most capped player with 101 appearances and became the captain following the retirement of Joseph Yobo after the 2014 World Cup but was forced into retirement in October 2015 while Emenike decided to quit when he gathered that coach Oliseh was planning to force him out of the team.

We hope to open a reconciliatory channel with Enyeama and Emenike and see how they can help salvage the situation we now find ourselves,” a top NFF board member told Ripples Nigeria.

Emenike played 35 times for the Super Eagles and scored 16 goals while Enyeama made his debut against Kenya in May 2002 in Lagos and during his international career he helped Nigeria win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, where he emerged as the tournament’s best goalkeeper.

He played in five Nations Cup tournaments – in 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2013 – and was part of the Nigeria squad at the 2002, 2010 and 2014 World Cup tournaments.
