NGX: Equities market begins week in red as investors lose N448bn

The equities market began the week in the red zone on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) as investors lost N448bn on Monday, October 28, 2024.

This followed a dip in the share prices of stocks like BUACEMENT, LASACO, and DAARCOMM amongst others on the trading floor.

After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalization decreased to N59.812 trillion from N60.260 trillion recorded by the bourse last week Friday.

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) decreased to 98,708.90 from 99,448.91 recorded the previous trading day.

The market breadth was negative as 17 stocks advanced and 28 stocks declined, while 73 stocks remained unchanged in 9,417 deals.

EUNISELL, LIVESTOCK, and TRANSCORP led other gainers with 10%, 9.97% and 9.95% growth each in share prices to close at N3.85, N3.75, and N48.60 from the previous N3.50, N3.41 and N44.20 per share.

BUACEMENT, LASACO, and DAARCOMM led other price decliners with 10%, 9.79%, and 9.38% decline each in share prices to close at N99.00, N2.58, and N0.58 from the previous N110.00, N2.86 and N0.64 per share.

On the volume index, CHAMS led trading with 84 million shares in 72 deals followed by UBA which traded 27 million shares in 738 deals.

ACCESSCORP traded 22 million shares in 559 deals.

On the value index, UBA topped as the securities traded stock worth N790 million in 738 deals followed by TRANSCORP which traded equities worth N507 million in 465 deals.

ACCESSCORP traded shares valued at N503 million in 559 deals.
