NGX: Equities market recovers as investors gain N343bn

Investors in the Nigerian equities market gained N343 billion at the close of trading on Tuesday.

This followed an increase in the share prices of stocks like SFS REIT, RT BRISCOE, and CAVERTON amongst others on the trading floor.

After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalization increased to N55.6 trillion from N55.2 trillion recorded by the bourse the previous day.

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) increased to 96,802.80 from 96,205.84.

The market breadth was positive as 30 stocks advanced and 18 stocks declined, while 65 stocks remained unchanged in 12, 241 deals.

SFS REIT, RT BRISCOE, and CAVERTON led other gainers with 9.98% 9.93%, and 9.77% growth each in share prices to close at N163.15, N3.10, and N1.91 from the previous N148.35, N2.82, and N1.74 per share.

On the flip side, LEARN AFRICA, JAPAUL GOLD, and AIICO led other price decliners as they shed 9.69%, 6.67%, and 4.39% each to close at N3.73, N2.52 and N1.09 from the initial N4.13, N2.70, and N1.14 per share.

On the volume index, OANDO led trading with 58 million shares valued at N5.5 billion in 2,577 deals followed by ACCESS CORP which traded 30 million shares valued at N557 million in 729 deals.

JAPAUL GOLD traded 28 million shares valued at N467 million in 384 deals.

On the value index, OANDO recorded the highest value for the day trading stocks worth N5.5 billion in 2, 577 deals followed by GTCO which traded equities worth N860 million in 279 deals.

ACCESS CORP traded shares valued at N557 million in 729 deals.
