NGX: Golden Breweries, Thomas Wyatt lead gainers as investors make N286bn in five hours
Investors in the Nigerian equities market gained N286 billion at the close of the trading on Wednesday.
This followed a surge in the share prices of stocks like GOLDEN BREWERIES, THOMAS WYATT, and FTN COCOA amongst others on the trading floor.
After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalization rose to N59.5 trillion from N59.226 trillion recorded by the bourse on Tuesday.
The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) increased to 98,174.99 from 97,702.56 recorded the previous day.
The market breadth was positive as 41 stocks advanced and 21 stocks declined, while 60 stocks remained unchanged in 9,420 deals.
GOLDEN BREWERIES, THOMAS WYATT, and FTN COCOA led other gainers with 9.83%, 9.83% and 9.50% growth each in share prices to close at N4.47, N1.90, and N1.96 from the previous N4.07, N1.73 and N1.79 per share.

SUNU ASSURANCE, LEARN AFRCA, and HM CALL led other price decliners with 9.85%, 9.85%, and 9.15% decline each in share prices to close at N4.21, N2.93, and N5.86 from the previous N4.67, N3.25 and N6.45 per share.
On the volume index, TANTALIZER led trading with 88 million shares in 67 deals followed by WAPCO which traded 57 million shares in 1,366 deals.
ACCESS CORP traded 41 million shares in 412 deals.
On the value index, SEPLAT traded stocks worth N8 billion in 152 deals followed by WAPCO which traded equities worth N4.2 billion in 1,366 deals.
GTCO traded shares valued at N1.3 billion in 185 deals.
