NIG vs CAM: Gov Emmanuel revs up Eagles, promises Eagles $10,000 per goal

The Super Eagles have been boosted to go all out to face Cameroon in Uyo as the Akwa Ibom State governor, Udom Emmanuel, has promised to pay $10,000 for every goal they score.

The Eagles, who are ahead of the Lions with four points in the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifying Group B, will be seeking a win to take one step to the global finals.

Governor Emmanuel had made a similar pledge to the Eagles in their match against Algeria last year, and redeemed it by doling out $30,000 to the team after they won 3-1.

“You (Eagles) should be able to hold the Lions; I believe the Lions by this time tomorrow (Friday) will not be able to roar,” the governor said on Thursday.

He then made the pledge of $10,000 per goal citing that the Nigerian players are talented enough to be rewarded the same way as their counterparts in other countries.

The governor then called on Nigerians to support the Eagles with prayers as well go to the Uyo stadium to cheer the team to victory against the Indomitable Lions.

“We believe in prayers. We also need your support. You have to do something to ensure that, at least, we project our own to the world,” he said.

Nigeria will host Cameroon at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Friday, and will travel to Yaounde next week for the reverse fixture.

If Nigeria scores three goals, that will be $30,000 and there are thousands of jobless graduates in Akwa Ibom state, this useless man will not deem it fit to give them a dollar, now he’s promising Nigerian footballers who are already millionaires more dollars

This is a wrong way to motivate Nigerian footballers, they should have enthusiasm for victory and not for some cash prizes attached to it. This is another product of corruption in Nigeria’s sport

There’s no big deal in this, money is a good source of motivation, it’s part of the benefits footballers enjoy from the government

This is corruption in a cunning manner, you need not to use money as bait for them to win, let them win to lift up Nigeria
