NIGER: Two APC senators can’t return to NASS

Two serving senators of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State have failed to secure their party’s ticket to run for senatorial positions in 2019 general elections.

This was as the two lawmakers were defeated in the party’s primary election conducted across the three senatorial districts in the state on Tuesday.

In Niger East Senatorial district, two-time senator and chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary and Human Right, David Umoru, lost to a new entrant, Sani Musa.

His counterpart in the Niger North Senatorial district and chairman, Senate Committee on Information, Senator Aliyu Abdullahi, also lost to the Niger State Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affair, Zakari Jikantoro.
