Two policemen identified as Alfa Idris and Sergeant Joseph Peter, have reportedly been murdered in the Allawa village, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State by wanted criminals.
Reports say the policemen, an Inspector and a Sergeant were killed while they were on official duty when the Niger State Police Command, Sunday, sent a team to the village to effect the arrest of the suspects after a tip-off.
When the team arrived the village to arrest members of the notorious gang, said to be headed by a criminal who is allegedly responsible for the kidnap of seven persons from a Mosque in the village recently, the police were attacked resulting in the murder of the two cops.
The incident was confirmed by Spokesman of the state Police Command, DSP Bala Elkana, who revealed that the police were still on the trail of the wanted criminals promising that they would soon be brought to book for their atrocities.
