Nigeria to battle Spain, Japan, Canada at U-20 Women's W/Cup

Nigeria’s U-20 Women’s team, the Falconets, has been drawn against Spain, Japan and Canada in Group B of the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup to be hosted by Papua New Guinea.

The draw was held on Thursday at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich with the Falconets being seeded for the competition.

Ghana, another African flag bearer to the tournament, found themselves in Group C with France, USA and New Zealand.

Defending champions, Germany is in Group D with Venezuela, Mexico and Korea Republic, while host, Papua New Guinea is thrown into the fray with Brazil, Sweden and Korea DPR in Group A.

This will be the eighth edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and will take place in Papua New Guinea between 13 November and 3 December 2016.

It will be a another familiar meeting for the Falconets who finished as runners up at the last edition hosted in Canada in 2014 when they battle Japan at the competition haven defeated the Asians 2-1 1 in the group stage during the Germany 2010 edition.

Group A Papua New Guinea, Brazil, Sweden, Korea DPR

Group B Spain, Canada, Japan, Nigeria

Group C France, USA,Ghana, New Zealand

Group D Germany, Venezuela, Mexico, Korea Republic
