Super Eagles of Nigeria

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have climbed four places in the latest FIFA World rankings released on Thursday by the world football governing body.

Gernot Rohr’s men, who were ranked 48th last month, secured home and away victories against Libya in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers earlier this month to improve on their ranking.

Nigeria now sit on the 44th spot in the world and also improved their place in the continent as they now hold the third position, behind Tunisia and Senegal in first and second position respectively.

Congo DR and Morocco complete the top five teams in Africa.

Meanwhile, Belgium are now the number one team in the World after displacing World Cup winners, France at the summit.

“Last month, Belgium joined France in becoming the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking’s first-ever joint leaders. Now the Red Devils are in sole possession of top spot, albeit by the narrowest possible margin – 1733 Ranking points to Les Bleus’ 1732,” a statement on FIFA website reads.

Brazil ranked third in the world, followed by Croatia, England and Uruguay in fourth, fifth and sixth positions, while Portugal, Switzerland, Spain and Denmark complete the top ten.

The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 29 November 2018.
