Nigeria confirms killing of 6 soldiers in Boko Haram attack

The Defence Headquarters on Wednesday confirmed the killing of six soldiers by Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.
A report emerged on Monday that the insurgents killed six soldiers in a pre-dawn attack on a military base in the Damboa district of Borno State.
They also set fire to the base and some vehicles in the facility.
In a statement in Abuja, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major- Gen. Edward Buba, said 34 terrorists were killed in a gun duel with the criminals.
He added that the troops recovered 23 AK 47 rifles and over 200 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

The spokesman said the identities of the slain soldiers were withheld to allow administrative procedures for the notification of their families.
“On the whole, 34 terrorists were killed and 23 AK 47 weapons were recovered. Troops also recovered with over 200 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Sadly, 6 personnel were killed in action.
“Kindly note that the names of killed in-action personnel are withheld to allow administrative procedures of notifying their next of kin to be concluded. Accordingly, the media is requested to respect the process, please,” Buba stated.
