Nigeria draws Mexico, Italy for FIFA Beach Soccer W'Cup '17

The Supersand Eagles of Nigeria have been drawn alongside Mexico, Italy and a yet-to-be-ascertained Asian team for the ​FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017​ to hold from 27 April to 7 May 2017.

The official draw for the event took place at the Hotel Atlantis in Nassau in the capital city of the Bahamas on Tuesday, and the hosts, who will face Switzerland in their opening match of the competition, were also drawn alongside Ecuador and Senegal.

Nigeria and African champions Senegal are Africa’s representatives in the tournament; while Senegal falls into Group A, Nigeria is drawn in Group B.

In Group C, Paraguay, defending champions Portugal, Panama and a team from the Asian qualifying tournament will battle for places in the quarter-finals.

In Group D, four-time champions Brazil were drawn alongside 2015 runners-up Tahiti, European champions Poland and a yet-to-be-determined Asian opponent.

Asia’s three representatives at the competition will be determined at the regional qualifiers taking place between 4 and 11 March.
