Nigeria, Polish trade hits €250 million

The trade volume between Nigeria and Poland is within the region of €250 million, Polish Ambassador to Nigeria, Andrzej Dycha has said.

Dycha, who made this disclosure on Wednesday in Abuja, said the level of trade between both countries was impressive, and signals that there is a strategic partnership as far as investment among the countries is concerned.

According to him, “Poland is the largest European Union producer of apples, poultry meat, carrots and significant producer of other vegetables. We are facing a challenge of transition from low value added production of raw food towards processed products offering great opportunities for investors.”

Continuing, the Polish envoy said:”Nigeria is a land of opportunities. We have ambitious investors in Poland who have indicated their intentions to invest in the Nigerian economy, the economic challenges facing the Nigerian economy has provided a huge opportunity for investors to invest in key sectors of the economy. Investors from Poland are ready for long term investments owing to the strategic importance of Nigeria in Africa.”

Also speaking at the briefing, President of the African Institute, who is a Nigerian by birth, who was also a one time Member of the Polish Parliament, John Godson, described this period as the best time for investors to come to Nigeria.

Godson stated that he has received enquires about Nigeria in the last one month than he has received in six months because of the administration’s desire to diversify from oil to other sources revenue.
