A Nigerian identified as Jeffrey Ewohime has been arrested by the police in London after allegedly destroying seven cars and property at the Nigerian High Commission in London over the delay in releasing his passport to him by officials.
Muhammed Babandede, the Comptroller General of Immigration Service confimed the incident in a statement on Tuesday after the event occurred on Monday night.
The Chief Executive Officer, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who also confirmed the incident said the 32-year old Emohime went to the Nigeria embassy in London on Monday around 2 pm to collect his passport which expired since November 2017.
Emohime who was told that passport collection closes at 1pm insisted on collecting his passport and was told to bring his collection slip which he could not produce.
He, however left disturbed and returned from a nearby hotel to destroy about seven cars, five belonging to the mission, and two to visitors who parked nearby.
He destroyed seven brand new cars except the ambassador’s car which is bullet proof.
Dabiri-Erewa however urged Nigerians abroad to be good ambassadors of their country at all times.
