Nigerian govt accuses opposition parties of plot to rubbish outcome of presidential election

The Federal Government has alleged that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and some other opposition parties are plotting to discredit the outcome of the February 16 presidential election should President Muhammadu Buhari win.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed made this claim when he addressed newsmen at a press conference in Abuja on Monday.

He also said that part of the plot to discredit the election was a plan by the opposition to send a 10-member delegation to some foreign countries with a message that Buhari was not ready to ensure the February 16, presidential election was credible.

Incumbent President Buhari is seeking a second term in office in the coming election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mohammed who described those behind the alleged plot as desperate politicians called on Nigerians to make sure nobody is allowed to ruin democracy in Nigeria.
