Nigerian named among experts who'll join team to 'stabilse cyberspace'

Nigeria’s former Senior Special Assistant Innovation & Technology to the National Security Adviser to the President of Nigeria, Abdul-Hakeem Ajijola has been appointed as one of the Commissioners of the Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace (GCSC).

The security expert, and Executive Chairman, Consultancy Support Services Ltd., a Cyber Security & Information Communication Technology (ICT) Consultancy Firm in Abuja, now swells the list of 23 Commissioners in GCSC, drawn from across the globe.

The GCSC is expected to engage the stakeholders to develop a shared understanding as its work is expected to advance cyber stability by supporting information exchange, capacity building, basic research and advocacy, the body said in a statement on its website.

The Commission comprises 23 prominent Commissioners who represent a wide range of geographic regions as well as governments, industry, technical and civil society stakeholders who are well versed in speaking about different aspects of cyberspace.

Ajijola is a founding & Steering Committee member of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation – Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT); mentor to the African forum of Computer Incident Response Reams (AfricaCERT), instigator of the Office of the National Security Adviser, member of Nigeria Computer Emergency Response Team (NGCERT); implemented the National Information Technology Development Agency Nigerian Computer Emergency Readiness & Response ecosystem (CERRT.ng); & member of the Nigerian Cybercrime Working Group.
