Nigerian Paralympics shine with two gold, two silver

Nigeria’s Power lifter, Paul Kehinde, increased the country’s medal haul to four at the weekend after winning a second gold medal at the on-going Rio 2016 Paralympics.

Kehinde lifted 218kg to beat his rivals to the gold medal in the -65kg men’s category on Saturday night.

China’s Peng Hu (200kg) finished second, while Egypt’s Shaaban Ibrahim (193kg) won the bronze medal.

Roland Ezuruike had earlier won Nigeria’s first gold  in the men’s -54kg category setting three Paralympics records on his way to winning Gold.

Earlier on Friday, female power lifter, Latifat Tijani, won silver competing in the 45kg category coming second behind China’s Dandan Hu after lifting 106kg while Esther Onyema added a second silver medal on Saturday competing in the 55kg category.
