Nigerian troops on a roll, rescue another 234 women, children
These are certainly good times for troops of the Nigerian army, and tax payers are now getting their money’s worth as the men in khaki have rescued an additional 234 women and children from the Sambisa Forest.
The Director, Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade, said in a statement on Friday that the women and children were rescued by troops at the Kawuri and Kondua axis of the forest.
Olukolade said that the latest batch of rescued women and children had been moved to join those rescued earlier for screening.
Recall that the military rescued 293 ladies comprising 200 girls and 93 women on Tuesday and another 160 women and children comprising 60 women and 100 children on Wednesday.
He said, “The assault on the forest is continuing from various fronts and efforts are concentrated on rescuing hostages of civilians and destroying all terrorists’ camps and facilities in the forest.”
