Nigeria’s Power Sector to get N600bn intervention fund

Transcorp Power Consortium beats two others to win Afam Power Plc bid

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the release of N600 billion to the Power Sector.

This was disclosed on Wednesday in Abuja by the Market Operator, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Edmond Eje, while speaking on the sidelines of the third MO interactive stakeholders’ forum.

“The plan to release this fund is at an advanced level,” Eje said.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had last week called for a new strategy in tackling the cumbersome challenges in the power sector.

He lamented that the power distribution companies had performed below expectations in delivering power to the Nigerian populace.
