Nigeria’s tech ecosystem hosts Zuckerberg

Published

on

As you read this report, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is currently in Nigeria at the CoCreation Hub, Yaba, Lagos, to be precise.

The young billionaire arrived the country this afternoon and is set for a series of meetings with key players in the Nigerian tech ecosystem.

It is no surprise Zuckerberg chose to visit Nigeria on his first visit to sub-Saharan Africa as he has shown support for Facebook-related development in Nigeria such as Free Basics launched recently, his support for the Jobberman team and Facebook’s partnership with Cool Link for the launch Express Wifi in Lagos sometime this week.

Zuckerberg took to his Facebook page to announce his arrival in Lagos when he wrote; “Lagos! This is my first trip to sub-Saharan Africa. I’ll be meeting with developers and entrepreneurs, and learning about the start-up ecosystem in Nigeria. The energy here is amazing and I’m excited to learn as much as I can.

“Our first stop is the Co-creation Hub Nigeria (CcHUB) in Yaba. I got to talk to kids at a summer coding camp and entrepreneurs who come to CcHub to build and launch their apps. I’m looking forward to meeting more people here!”
