KACHIKWU,BARU FEUD: It was me who approved the NNPC contracts –Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo may have cleared the air over the worrying question about whether President Muhammadu Buhari signed the controversial Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) contracts while on his sick bed in London.

Different reactions have continued to trail the leaked memo written by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, to President Buhari where he accused the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Maikanti Baru of insubordination and award of contracts without due process..

While some Nigerians have called for the resignation of the NNPC GMD and probe of the NNPC, others have questioned who signed the contract, as they wonder whether Buhari signed it while in London hospital where he was receiving treatment as at the time the contract was signed.

However, bringing the agitating question of who signed the contract to rest, Vice President Osinbajo, in statement by his spokesperson, Laolu Akande, claimed that he was the one who approved the contracts while functioning as acting president in July, 2017.

The statement which Akande published on his Twitter handle read, “In response to media inquiries on NNPC joint venture financing, VP Osinbajo, as Ag President approved recommendations after due diligence & adherence to established procedure. Action necessary to deal with huge backlog of unpaid cash calls which Buhari adm. inherited and also to incentivize much needed fresh investments in the oil & gas sector”.

I know Osinbajo is lying about this to protect the interest of whatever they are trying to hide from the public. Osinbajo didn’t approve those contracts

There’s no point disputing this, Osinbajo just said he did signed those contracts, you have no reason to doubt him. He signed the contracts and he has publicly confirmed he did, so be it.

Kachikwu and those calling Baru different names can go to bed now since Vice President has cleared the air about the signature issue. The contracts was definitely one of the great jobs Osinbajo did while he was the acting president

The APC government is filled with too many lies, how can Osinbajo signed contracts when he wasn’t the Minister of pet, he was acting as the President of Nigeria, not as the minister of petroleum. Him and Baru should be probed by EFCC
