NNPC trunk line explodes in Delta

There was an explosion on Friday at the Abura Crude Trunk line operated by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in Otu-Jeremi Community, Headquarters of Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The cause of the explosion, which occurred at about 4pm, was yet to be ascertained as at the time of this report.

Residents of Otu-Jeremi town, especially those living very close to the area, were forced to run for safety as the exploded oil pipeline gushed out volumes of crude oil into the surroundings and beyond.

Volumes of crude oil reportedly impacted the Council’s Secretariat just as soldiers cordoned off the scene of the incident.

It was learnt that the affected trunckline accommodated the Oil Mining Lease (OML) 34 pipelines operated by the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company, NPDC/ND Western jointly with that of Abura Line belonging to the NNPC.
