No chance FG will divert N2.4tn capital budget for 2019 election- Adeosun

The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has stated that the Federal Government’s 2018 capital budget of N2.4 trillion would be disbursed as pledged to fund infrastructural projects across the country, with particular focus on the completion of ongoing projects.

The minister, according to a statement issued by her Media Adviser, Yinka Akintunde, on Sunday, disclosed this in Abuja while representing Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at a lecture delivered to the National Defence College Course 26 participants.

She added that the government would retain the capital budget despite the forthcoming elections in the country.

While responding to a question from a member of the NDC Course 26 on the use of the capital budget for the general elections, Adeosun maintained that the current administration would not engage in the diversion of capital project funds for the forthcoming elections.

Adeosun said, “The administration remains committed to infrastructure spending at the high levels of the past two years and the completion of major ongoing projects.”

She further reiterated the commitment of government to its programme of transformation, job and wealth creation across the country.
